plan/scenarios for remaining sections
the only sections that Lucy and I have left to do are:
Growing up/transition
Celebration
Study sessions.
The easiest way to show growing up/transitions will be to find photos of what we looked like last year and compare to how we look this year, for this bit we will use a voice over of us talking about how we think we have changed during our time at sixth form and what are plans for the future/next steps are, this will play over the photos.
for celebration we're not quite sure of what to do because until we get our results or finish our exams there isnt much for us to celebrate during the school year.
For study sessions we will film us doing revision/working, Lucy will be shown doing art and I will be shown doing law. We may also take some shots of the study center with and without students in it.

feedback 14/01
footage needs more polish
think about framing carefully
set up the shot carefully - think a\bout location
do our locations communicate the right themes - locations may need to be more metaphoric
use a tripod
plan filming more carefully in terms of location and script. plan locations that we're going to use in terms of theme e.g. they should symbolise the theme we're going to look at.

this weeks theme
This week my media partner Lucy and I will be looking at stress and exams. We will interview members of sixth form and ask them about how they feel about exams, what subjects they're most nervous about taking and what results they want and do they know what they'll do if they dont get those grades

Short film(s) analisis - last weeks theme of friendship
La Gouffre is a short film about friendship, beating the odds/doing the impossible and sacrifice. in this short the audience follows the journey of two friends who's journey comes to an abrupt stop when they find that the bridge they have to cross has been destroyed. with no other way across the canyon the pair must find a way to get across and ultimately decide to use all the wood and old pieces of the bridge that they can to rebuild it. The story center's around their endevour to rebuild the bridge.
The thing that I like most about this sequence is that you can see the exact moment that the characters decide to build the bridge which is represented by the sun, like a 'light bulb' moment. You can tell from their weathered and slightly rugged appearance that they've been on this journey for a while and the photo above shows how they consider turning back before ultimately decide against that and decide to build the bridge instead.
These two photos show how the closest of friends can communicate without words.
Over the duration of the film you see the different aspects of friendship and the importance of it. you see how your friend is the one that motivates you the most and can actually shape who you are, while this part isnt shown directly at the end you see the impact the death of the blonde one has on the other.
The Elder
This short documentary film perfectly shows the style that my media partner and I wish to use for our short film. It is the perfect mixture of narrative and short clips and photos, Because the documentary is about the subjects life their voice is played throughout all but one part of the video, in that part there is no sound so the audience can understand what the subject is talking about, there's also minimal music/other sounds.
The documentary is similar to the one that we want to do because it focuses on a specific time in the subjects life, his life in Italy. While obviously we focus on sixth form. Ultimately what our final video will consist of is short clips e.g. interviews, photos and narratives. For example in our introduction i will narrate about Lucy and she will narrate about me, whereas our theme of friendship will have the interviews play, but there will also be moments that music that matches the mood play over it.
The thing that has the most impact on the audience is the emotion behind the subjects voice, especially at the end when he starts to talk about having to leave johnny because he cant be a Mormon and be with johnny, so he is torn between his love for johnny and his love for god.

Lucy's Picture
Lucy's Original Photo
Then again like my one, i increased the shadows by 12%
Finally I removed her red eyes
So going with the idea of incorporating our hobbies into the photos I figured i'd look at Lucy's main hobbies of art and obsessing about the 80's. so for art i decided to put the posterize effect on her picture - I've also already done few others of her posterized in a separate post, but this one is slightly different to them.
a posterized picture of lucy using 30 colours, 100% detail and a 15% fade

With the Posterize effect at 4 colours and 80% detail
6 colours 80% detail
8 colours 80% detail
10 colours 80% detail
13 colours 80% detail
13 colours 100% detail
photos for our introduction
Lucy and I spent about an hour this afternoon experimenting with different shots to get some portrait shots for our introduction. Eventually we will pick the best ones to use for our introduction and the ones we want to use for our posters as well as the ones we will get each week to show the theme of that week as well as the transformation we go through.
an example of how we will show this transformation would be to use old footage we got of us at the start of the year were we talk about our goals and aims for sixth form/what we want to do after and would then use footage of what our aims and goals for the remainder of sixthform / what we want to do after to show how we have physically (although not much) changed as well as mentally.
